So many of us are right now recording memories hanging on to mementos, we may not even know we are doing it. Thousands of people are posting on Facebook, writing their 204 characters on Twitter, sharing successes, disappointments and feelings with a poignant picture on Instagram. The media are talking of a surge in people turning to journals to record their thoughts. Grayson Perry is running a national art club to collect artistic representations to be shared when we ‘reach the other side’. Some us are furiously knitting our lock-down blankets, crocheting, patch-working, painting, photographing poetry and so much more. You may want to keep your memories completely private or just share with friends or families. We are hoping that many of you will want to share with your community. To this end we are taking first steps towards a new Cherry Hinton Community project. Please make your contribution to the collection as a story, poem, image, video or simply a journal entry with the following themes: A day in lock-down What I am most missing/looking forward to What I want to do differently when the restrictions come to an end How my world has changed Before and after Something I/we have learned Something lost or found This is intended as a whole community project encompassing every age and experience in Cherry Hinton. So that means every household and everyone in the household is encouraged to take part.
