For those not from the village or new to the village, until 1979, Cherry Hinton Cricket Club played their cricket at Cherry Hinton Hall, but found it difficult to play there after the Folk Festival, so needed to find an alternative venue. Other avenues were explored, on the Cherry Hinton Recreation Ground, Netherhall School and Nightingale Avenue, but we were fortunate to find a wicket that was not being used at Stow-cum-Quy.  We amalgamated with Quy Football Club to make Quy Sports Assocaition, and have played at Quy ever since, although have retained the name of Cherry Hinton CC.
One of the issues we have had since the move is getting young players to the venue, and although we have run colts teams, we have missed much of the local Cherry Hinton cricketers that used to be attracted by the matches played at Cherry Hinton Hall.
Despite this, we have managed to retain two sides that play on Saturdays in the Cambridgeshire Cricket Association, and a Midweek evening side that play and are currently champions of the Cambridge Business Houses League. Our league season starts on the first Saturday in May, and runs through until the start of September.
New players are always welcome, and we are able to cater for most standards.
We are currently holding pre-season practice nets at Fenners Indoor School on Thursday evenings as we prepare for the new season.
As a curtain raiser to the 2019 season, we have a pre-season friendly (weather permitting) on Saturday 27th April. At Quy.
We are always looking for new members, and if anyone would be keen to play, score, umpire or just a spectator, they are always welcome.
